Sammy Brue – Vevo Meets: Sammy Brue

Vevo Meets: Sammy Brue. 2017

It’s good to start young. Two years ago, Rolling Stone profiled Sammy Brue, deeming him a “14-year-old Americana prodigy.” The skilled singer-songwriter from Ogden Utah already had one EP behind him and was dropping another, the duly impressive ‘I Don’t Want You To Leave.’ A small group of fans knew him from his songs; perhaps a larger bunch recognized him from participating in the cover shoot of Justin Townes Earle’s ‘Single Mothers’ album. Brue, who has opened for Hayes Carll, John Moreland and Lucinda Williams and gets plenty of shout-outs from the East Nashville alt-country community, has now finished his first full-length album. ‘I Am Nice’ arrives today. His Vevo Meets interview touched down on his tribute to Woody Guthrie, the fact that he sometimes makes hip-hop tracks, and being discovered while busking at the Sundance Film Festival.
