K.Flay – Places that Shape K.Flay

Places that Shape K.Flay. 2017

Kristine Flaherty fell into the world of hip-hop while a student at Stamford more than a decade ago. As K.Flay she became an inspired badass, writing rhymes, dropping mixtapes and finding herself in a music career heralded for its emotional candor and lyrical articulation, what Rolling Stone once called a “rebel chick charm.” Through the years her vision widened and her sound grew. These days there’s plenty alt-rock attitude guiding the ship. Her ‘Life Is a Dog’ and ‘Crush Me’ releases were critically celebrated, and her new ‘Every Where Is Some Where’ album brings us powerful videos such as “Blood in the Cut” and “High Enough.” To celebrate its arrival K.Flay stopped by to tell us about some of the locales that have made an impact on her work. ‘Places That Shape K.Flay’ finds her explaining spots such as her parents’ basement as a teen and a San Francisco nightclub as a college student. Other cool places, too. Find out what they mean to her.
