Gooden recounted a harrowing childhood memory of his sister’s husband shooting her eight times, leaving her for dead. Despite the severe injuries and a bullet lodged in her head, his sister miraculously survived. Demonstrating a forceful familial loyalty, Gooden’s mother tracked down the shooter and shot him in retaliation. Illustrating her fierce and protective nature further, Gooden disclosed that his mother also shot his father in the shoulder after discovering his infidelity. Remarkably, his parents stayed married despite this violent episode.
