It’s always more fun to watch a music video when you have some background deets, like the artist’s intention and director’s vision. Our ‘Footnotes’ series does just that, and this time we go behind the scenes of Alma’s video for “Phases,” featuring French Montana and co-written by Charli XCX. The 21-year-old Finnish singer turned a lot of heads with last year’s ‘Dye My Hair’ EP. This new song is all about the “phases you go through as a teenager,” she says. “Friday you’re in love with one person; Saturday you got to another party and you love with someone else.” Turns out Charli directed the video too.
