Volbeat’s Michael Poulsen Talks Touring with Metallica, New Record, 50’s Music and Boxing

Volbeat’s Michael Poulsen talks to Vevo at Rock On the Range 2017.

Michael Poulsen may have grown up listening to his parents’ music from the 1950s, artists such as Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash and Little Richard, but what got the singer/guitarist of Volbeat really cranked early on was the music of Ronnie James Dio and Black Sabbath, Rainbow and Slayer. They helped shape the punishing propulsion of the Danish metal band’s ravaging music. On tour across America this June and July, they’re playing music from their most recent album, ‘Seal the Deal & Let’s Boogie.’ They recently stopped at the Rock on the Range festival, and we had a chance to chat with Poulsen about European metal, evolving the Volbeat sound, and the sweet science of boxing.
