With Disney’s acclaimed remake of PETE’S DRAGON flaming into theaters this weekend, Awfully Good Movies is spreading its wings and flying into a review of a less beloved dragon tale: ERAGON, starring Jeremy Irons and John Malkovich! Sure, a movie about dragon-riding sorcerers battling each other over control of a magical land sounds like a reliable formula for a cool fantasy movie…until you hear it’s based on a book written while the author was still in high school. So instead, you get a shameless ripoff of almost every fantasy series that came before it, while dignified actors like Jeremy Irons and John Malkovich whore out their dignity in the quest to get their new yachts paid off. But if you ever wanted to see what GAME OF THRONES would look like as a Saturday morning TV show on Fox Kids, then we have got the movie for you…but why the hell would anyone wanna see that anyway?
