Curtis “Wall Street” Carroll revealed the circumstances leading to his transfer to the infamous Pelican Bay Prison in 2018. At the age of 40, Carroll’s property at San Quentin was searched, unearthing a cell phone used for financial communications. This discovery led to a significant scandal, as the phone contained contact information for volunteers involved in his programs, raising red flags about potentially illicit activities. The subsequent investigation brought to light Carroll’s unapproved interactions with prison workers, prompting prison officials to relocate him to Pelican Bay, known for housing the most dangerous criminals. Despite its fearsome reputation, Carroll’s transfer was part of California’s Department of Corrections efforts to integrate and reform the prison system. Adjusting to Pelican Bay was challenging for Carroll, given the heightened violence and notoriety he had gained outside prison walls. Yet, he faced the new environment while preparing for a parole hearing, navigating the complexities of a prison system in flux.
