Charles “PeeWee” Goldsmith opened up about his rough journey with the Hells Angels. Despite investing over four years trying to become a member, he was ultimately rejected. Goldsmith revealed the strange code of silence imposed upon him to keep him from discussing why he failed to get patched in. Despite his efforts, internal politics and personal vendettas led to his dismissal, as leaders made millions through drug sales. He shifted gears to San Francisco, where he successfully became a Hells Angel, but encountered similar issues. Sonny Barger, the club’s de facto public face, was instrumental in enforcing strict, albeit contradictory, rules against drug use and internal violence. Goldsmith also talked about exclusivity within the Hells Angels, particularly their resistance to diversity, as he noted why none of his African American peers were considered during his tenure.
