Republicans Are Leaning Into MAGA to Win Virginia
The race for Virginia governors’ seat is neck and neck between former Democratic governor, Terry McAuliffe, and Republican businessman Glenn Youngkin. Virginia is considered a blue state – President Biden won it by a large margin in 2020 – but Youngkin is closing in on McAuliffe in the polls. Republicans’ strategy for electing Youngkin: activate the MAGA base while not alienating moderates, and keep Critical Race Theory front and center.
