Long Island native Torii Wolf has known she wanted to make music since the age of eight, and as an adult, her dreams have become a reality with support from hip-hop icon DJ Premier. “Premo” was knocked out by Torii’s “weird, wicked style” when they connected a few years ago, and he’s been helping craft her music for a while now. Their first album together, ‘Flow Riiot’ (an anagram for Torii Wolf), has just dropped, so we had the singer and producer in to riff on the way they put the project together. Along the way Premier reveals how he keeps things fresh, how he fell for Wolf’s “whispery but forceful” voice, and how she broke him away from his past formulas. Torii explains how she writes from another person’s perspective, and always stresses the emotional feel of a performance. Don’t miss what they have to say about ‘Alien.’
