As lead singer of The Gossip, Beth Ditto put her powerhouse voice in front of a feisty little outfit that was expert in forcing the crunch of punk to befriend the catchy architecture of pop. Regardless of how ornery they sounded at any given moment, the esteemed trio from Olympia, WA trio had songs that stuck. With her new solo album ‘Fake Sugar,’ Ditto shows fans just how much she knows about a variety of pop styles, and she sounds fetching in each.
